Removing High Ambitions

Read this before you disable, unsubscribe from or delete High Ambitions.

Why a save needs the mod

A saved game remembers what kind of business each of your buildings is. A Dispensary and a Smoke Shop are business types this mod adds, so a save that still contains one of them needs the mod installed in order to load correctly. Marking a store Temporarily closed does not change its business type and does not help here.

Removing it safely

  1. Open the Business app for every Dispensary and Smoke Shop you own and use Close business on each one. This is the permanent action that ends the business and hands the building back. The Temporarily closed toggle is not enough: it only pauses trading and leaves the business in your save.
  2. Save the game, and keep a backup of it.
  3. Then disable or unsubscribe from High Ambitions. If you are removing BusinessBridge as well, remove High Ambitions first or both together, never BusinessBridge on its own while High Ambitions is still installed.

AI-owned Dispensaries and Smoke Shops

AI rivals can own Dispensaries and Smoke Shops too, and you cannot close theirs. A save in which an AI rival has opened one still contains a High Ambitions business after you close all of your own, so treat that save as needing High Ambitions and BusinessBridge, and keep the backup.

After closing

Once the businesses are closed, those buildings are ordinary empty rentals again, and any leftover High Ambitions stock in warehouses or vehicles is cleaned up by the game with compensation the next time you load.

If you loaded a save without the mod

If you load a save that still contains a Dispensary or a Smoke Shop without the mod installed, the game warns you that the enabled mods have changed. Choose not to continue, re-enable High Ambitions, and the save is fine again. Nothing is damaged unless you save the game in that state.
