Troubleshooting and compatibility
If something does not behave as this guide describes, start here.
Troubleshooting
- No customers come. Open the store in the Business app and check its requirements: shopping baskets, a point of sale, and at least one stocked product from each required category (see Dispensary or Smoke Shop).
- A product is missing from a shelf's list. The list shows only what that piece of furniture can display and what the store sells. Each store's page lists the furniture for every product. High Ambitions products are never offered in other kinds of business.
- A Rounded Shelf still holds vape carts, or a Product Panel still holds lighters. It was set up in an earlier version, and keeps them until you choose another product for it. New Rounded Shelves take concentrates only, and new Product Panels no longer take loose lighters.
- AI rivals' Dispensaries or Smoke Shops cannot be entered. BusinessBridge is missing or disabled. Re-enable it.
- A notice says a High Ambitions feature is off. See below.
The five optional features
High Ambitions has five optional features that work with the game's own code. Everything else, both businesses, every product, supply, requirements, AI competitors and your saves, works without them.
| Feature | What it does | If it is switched off |
|---|---|---|
| Proximity Synergy | Extra customers for a nearby Dispensary and Smoke Shop. | Your stores trade normally; a nearby Dispensary and Smoke Shop just do not get the extra customers. |
| Help category | The High Ambitions category in the game's Help window. | Every High Ambitions page still opens from the ? buttons in BizMan and from links on other pages. |
| Interior Installation Firm designs | The twelve official High Ambitions designs. | You can still furnish stores yourself or use the vanilla designs, and AI competitors still open fully furnished stores. |
| Business product filter | Each store's shelves offer only the products that store sells. | Shelves offer every product their fixture can hold, as in the unmodded game, so a Dispensary's shelves also list Smoke Shop products and the reverse. Products a store does not sell attract almost no customers there; your stock and sales are unaffected. |
| Daytime store lighting | Keeps a Dispensary's or Smoke Shop's own ceiling lamps on by day, so products stay easy to see. | Dispensaries and Smoke Shops are lit like every other store: by daylight during the day and by their lamps at night. |
Compatibility notices
Other mods sometimes hook into the same code, or bring a different version of Harmony, the tool mods use for this. High Ambitions first shares Harmony with them, then falls back to its own private copy, and the Help category can even do without it. Only when none of that is safe does it switch off the one feature affected, and it then tells you with a notice, once per game session.
A notice names another mod only when High Ambitions can tell for certain which mod changes the same code. That does not mean the other mod is broken: two mods simply cannot both change that part of the game at once.
Reporting a problem
Please open a support ticket and attach your Player.log. It records exactly which feature was affected and what it clashed with. Take it straight after the session in which the problem appeared: the game starts a new one each time it launches and keeps only the previous one, as Player-prev.log. On Windows it is in:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Hovgaard Games\Big Ambitions\Player.log
