CustomerFlow Released
Tune how customers flow through your businesses
Change three separate parts of Big Ambitions - Fixture Throughput, Building Capacity and Demand - each with its own controls, so you change only what you mean to.
CustomerFlow lets you change three separate parts of Big Ambitions: Fixture Throughput, Building Capacity and Demand. Each one has its own controls, so you can change exactly what you want without automatically changing the others.
Everything starts at its neutral setting: Inherit for fixtures, No change for Building Capacity, and 1.00x for Demand, so installing CustomerFlow on its own does not change anything. Your settings take effect the next time you load a save.
Use it to increase customer capacity, put tighter limits on your businesses, change market demand, or simply tune the game to the way you want to play.
What you can control
Fixture Throughput
Change the customers-per-hour values used by 79 fixtures across 11 categories, including shelves, fridges, checkout equipment, gym equipment, cinema screens and office workstations.
You can set fixtures at three levels, and the more specific setting wins:
Individual fixture → Category → Global → Inherit
Choose a multiplier from 0.25x to 4.00x, or set a fixed CPH value. Every fixture starts on Inherit, which uses whatever value the game or another mod currently provides.
An individual fixture can be set as low as 2 CPH. Fixed values for a whole category or for every fixture at once start at 50 CPH.
The fixture table has search, category filters and a changed-only view, and shows the game's current value beside the setting you have chosen. Higher experimental CPH values are available behind an optional toggle.
Building Capacity
Apply a multiplier to the customer-capacity values associated with Big Ambitions' different building sizes. It is a separate setting from Fixture Throughput.
You can increase it, reduce it, or leave it on No change and carry on using the game's existing values. The settings page previews the resulting value for each building size before you load your save.
Demand
Multiply the market-demand values Big Ambitions calculates. The game calculates demand normally first, real market events included; CustomerFlow then applies your multiplier and keeps the final result inside the game's normal 0-100 range.
At 1.00x the game's calculated demand is left unchanged. CustomerFlow does not create market events and does not replace the game's demand system - it changes the final value.
What it does not change
- Stock or storage capacity
- Prices
- Which products fit on which furniture
- Furniture appearance or dimensions
- Employee requirements
- Product mappings
- Purchase locations
- Market-event generation
Fixture Throughput, Building Capacity and Demand stay separate settings. Changing one does not change the others.
Does it change my save?
Fixture settings are runtime changes, and the values return to what they were underneath once CustomerFlow is no longer applying them.
Building Capacity and Demand need a little more care, because Big Ambitions stores some of the resulting values in the save. That does not mean CustomerFlow uses a save format of its own or damages your save. It means that if you have used Building Capacity or Demand, you should put them back to their normal values before removing the mod.
Removing CustomerFlow cleanly
If you changed Building Capacity:
- Set Building Capacity to No change.
- Load each affected save.
- Save the game.
- Remove CustomerFlow.
If you changed Demand:
- Set Demand back to 1.00x.
- Load each save you used with a Demand multiplier.
- Save the game.
- Remove CustomerFlow.
The Demand setting is shared between saves, but the values it produces are stored by the game per save, so each affected save needs loading once.
If you only used Fixture Throughput settings, no extra removal step is needed.
Other mods
CustomerFlow requires no other gameplay mod. Fixture settings work from the values that already exist when CustomerFlow applies its changes, rather than assuming every fixture is still on its vanilla value.
Demand is the only part of CustomerFlow that patches a game method: it uses the game's normal demand calculation and adjusts the final result. Mods that change the same fixture values, building-capacity values or demand calculation can affect what you end up with.
Demand patches through Harmony. CustomerFlow shares a compatible Harmony another mod has already loaded, including Harmony 2.4, which some mods bring (for example Going Public: Multiplayer), and otherwise uses its own included copy.
Demand checks that its change is in place after patching, again when a save has finished loading, and at each new in-game day. If another mod has taken over the demand calculation, Demand switches itself off for the rest of the session and the game's own demand applies. Another mod's patch is never removed, and Fixture Throughput and Building Capacity are unaffected.
CustomerFlow has not been tested in Going Public multiplayer sessions.
BetterRoundedShelf
CustomerFlow can set the Rounded Shelf to the same 30 CPH that BetterRoundedShelf applies, so if you are using CustomerFlow for that change you do not need BetterRoundedShelf as well.
While BetterRoundedShelf is installed, CustomerFlow leaves that one fixture to it and the shelf is whatever BetterRoundedShelf makes it. CustomerFlow reads the game's mod list to decide, so this does not depend on which of the two loads first, and a Rounded Shelf setting you have chosen is kept and applies again if BetterRoundedShelf is removed. BetterRoundedShelf stays available for players who want only the Rounded Shelf change without CustomerFlow's other controls.
Release notes
0.1.2
- CustomerFlow now recognises Harmony 2.4, which some mods bring (for example Going Public: Multiplayer), and shares it for Demand instead of using its own copy.
- Demand now confirms its change is in place after patching, when a save has finished loading and at each new in-game day. If another mod has taken over the demand calculation, Demand switches itself off and the game's own demand applies. Fixture Throughput and Building Capacity are unaffected.
- What changed now appears once per save, in the game's own dialog after the city has loaded, instead of once at the main menu.
- Going Public's multiplayer sessions have not been tested with CustomerFlow.
- No change to fixtures, building capacity, Demand's multiplier or any setting.
0.1.1
- Added 2, 3 and 4 CPH options for finer control over low-traffic fixtures.
- Existing CustomerFlow settings remain compatible with the update.
0.1.0
The first release.
